This first picture is the essence of Riva on the Trentino small portion of lake Garda: a little town squeezed by mountains
Once arrived I go straight to the lungolago (lakefront), eager to see the barche a vela (sailboats) and the beauty of the blue water reflecting the sun. Compared to Desenzano, Riva’s space is limited to a small corner on the lake, yet rich in plant variety, as pictured below ⏬
Amazing effect of natural walls; I remember I even saw somewhere a little white church concealed within the thick vegetation. I guess there must be a road toward it, but I wonder who might live up there… 😯
It’s good to go for the stupendo (wonderful) lakefront, but let us not forget this is Italy, and that always means historical traces hidden inward. Not many, I admit. But if we could sit down and listen, I’m sure they would talk for hours!
Riva is internationally well known, I remember the German duo Modern Talking came to sing here. My walk arrives too late for them, yet I meet plenty of Harley Davidsons & luxury cars, with hotels, cafés, reastaurants, boutiques and ferries everywhere to say welcome. All very attracting, but only for 5 minutes. I always prefer to let the territory alone speak for itself 😍
A double unexpected encounter, 1 cute, 1 disturbing. These two baby ducks swing waiting for their mum to bring them weed food from the bottom. While… two little snakes 🐍 crawl on a fig tree. I discovered them by surprise, a bit of a shock. What… why…? Is it local fauna or invasive species??
And now postcards! This is the ideal for a good relax, a little eden with everything you may wish for a June not-yet-Summer afternoon on a trip. Some traces of human presence and 90% natural wonders!!
Enter the local museum and guess what was Riva like 100 years ago…
100 years later I hardly believe I have been here today, this is really paradise 🤗
Stunning!
Gorgeous! I will add Riva to my list of places to visit. Thanks for all the photos!
